Green Schools Trophy 2026 Winner

A huge congratulations to all of our 2026 Green schools Trophy entries, our judges had a really tough time this year as all the entries were so impressive. Well done to everyone who wntered and thank you for taking the time to apply, and dedicating so much time to protecting and enhacnign your local areas and green spaces!

Our judges were especially impressed by St John Fisher Catholic College for their enthusiasm, creativity and commitment to promoting environmental awareness and sustainability. Congratulations to all the students for all their hard work. Our judges enjoyed reading out St John Fisher’s: 

• Prayer garden featuring bird boxes, a herb garden used by kitchen staff, decorated with recycled materials, full of plants to support pollinators and used by students to promote nature reconnection and wellbeing.
• Powerful work in sustainability and conservation, focusing on reducing energy consumption and implementing a carbon action plan. Collaboration with local borough council in their carbon action plan and taking part in “Cut the Carbon” assessments.
• A dedicated Eco Stewardship team who meet regularly and have dedicated themselves to making an impact, through reducing waste and promoting effective recycling throughout the school.
• They have explored plastic pollution and the impact of fossil fuels, got involved in national climate and conservation activities and taken to the streets of Newcastle to take part in local litter picks.

As all the entries were so impressive this year we have chosen two runners up:

• Fountains Primary School
• Springfield School

Both schools demonstrated a keen enthusiasm and dedication to their local green spaces and the environment and have received a certificate to congratulate them on their hard work!
