How Parish Councils Can Make Effective Planning Representations

Tuesday 24th September 2024, 6-8pm

CPRE Staffordshire, CPRE Cheshire, CPRE Derbyshire and CPRE Shropshire are holding an interactive online training session for parish and town councils on the planning system in England, covering legislation, designations and statutory development plans. Together we will examine the role of planning and how we can shape and inform our rural communities.

We will also discuss how to make effective representations in planning, exploring what are material considerations and how to engage in the planning process. This session will also include a range of planning case studies.

The session will be delivered on Zoom by Hannah Barter, Director of Urban Vision, who has over 15 years’ experience in planning and community development, working in the public, private and third sectors.

Hannah was awarded the Chesterton Zoe Dawson Award in 2002-03 for her work on urban green spaces with Birmingham City Council, and is a chartered member of the Royal Town Planning Institute. She works as an Associate with Staffordshire University on the development and delivery of heritage and community engagement projects and is a MELA Associate.

There will be 10 places available for each county. There is a small cost of £5 per attendee for parish or town councils that are members of CPRE, and £15 per attendee for non-members.

If you are not able to attend the September event, the training session will be repeated in spring 2025 at a date to be confirmed.
