Homes people can afford

We all have the right to a home we can afford to live in, wherever we are.

We want everyone in the countryside to have a fair chance in life, whatever their circumstances. To make this a reality, we need to ensure there are enough low cost homes to rent or buy in our villages and market towns.

We’re working with local partners and urging the government to make sure communities get the homes they need to thrive.

Our Annual Report 2020 includes a case study of how the village of Gnosall has managed to build 78 affordable homes since 2012. This was achieved through a combination of an active parish council, the development of a Parish Plan and later on a Neighbourhood Plan with the help of local volunteers and the local planning authority, a housing needs survey, and working with an independent rural housing enabler and housing associations.
