We encourage alternatives to car travel and road-building in Staffordshire.
The biggest new road planned in Staffordshire is the M6-M54 link road, which is being considered by the Secretary of State for Transport. New roads like this, as well as road widening schemes, can increase traffic and pollution, as well as damaging the countryside. We support better public transport, plus safe routes for cycling and walking so that people can travel easily, sustainably and more healthily. We also want to avoid car-dependent developments – often called ‘cowpat’ developments because they’re dropped on fields and not linked to existing urban areas.
