Tour of Fordhall Farm

Join us for a tour of Fordhall Farm, a community-owned organic farm near Market Drayton, on Wednesday 10 July.

The visit will start at 1pm on Wednesday 10 July, followed by tea, coffee and cakes at 3pm.

The 140 acres at Fordhall, which has been chemical-free for over 65 years, include wetlands, woodlands, streams, the River Tern and grasslands. It rears cattle, sheep and pigs on an outdoor extensive grazing system. Faced with their farm being sold off for development by the landowner, Charlotte and Ben Hollins raised the £800,000 needed to save it by selling shares to the public. The farm has been under community ownership since 2006 through the Fordhall Community Land Initiative.

The cost of the visit will be £8 per person, which includes a tour of the farm led by Charlotte Hollins, refreshments, and a small donation to Fordhall Farm (additional donations are welcome). If desired, we can arrange car-sharing from Stafford or Gnosall.

The terrain is variable with moderate hills and there are no stiles to climb.
