CPRE STAFFORDSHIRE

The Branch has need of active volunteers to help with the work which it is committed to carry out. The following are descriptions of the sort of tasks where help is required. Please review the tasks and if you would like to assist please call or e-mail the office and let us know.
The positions are :-

Minerals Officer
Planning Officer
Minutes Secretary

Minerals Officer
Job description
· comment on minerals local plans and applications for mineral extraction
· meet with local authority minerals officers to discuss minerals policy
· initiate and co-ordinate campaigning on specific sites and issues
· advise Branch on minerals issues when commenting on development
plans
· provide regular reporting to Branch committee on minerals issues
· liaise with national office staff on minerals issues
Skills and experience
· an interest in minerals issues
· ability to pick out key, relevant information from a broad range of plans and documents
· confidence to speak with local authority officers and other campaigners
· experience of or interest in campaigning
· be accessible by phone and internet.
Estimated time per week
Average of 2 hours per week including attendance at occasional meetings.
Conditions Full training will be given on CPRE's mineral's policy. Guidelines are available to help assess minerals local plans.
Travel and administration expenses will be paid,

Planning Officer
Job description:
· Assist the branch Technical Officer in ensuring development in Staffordshire is sustainable. This is done through responding to planning applications and commenting on development plans produced by the County and District Councils.
Skills and experience:
· A wish to help protect the Staffordshire countryside.
· Enthusiasm
· Ability to think logically.
· Willingness to work as part of a team
· A knowledge of planning issues or a willingness to learn (full training will
be given).
· Able to get to the office in Stafford.

Estimated time per week:
· Varies, but up to 6 hours total at home and at the office in Stafford.
Conditions:
· Full training on understanding the planning system will be given. Training
and information on other areas of CPRE's work can also be provided if you are interested.
· Out of pocket expenses will be reimbursed. ,
Minutes Secretary
Job description:
· Take and distribute minutes for monthly meetings in Stafford.
· Prepare agendas in consultation with the branch chairman. · Book venues.
Skills and experience:
· Typing or Word Processing skills.
· Access to work processor, or able to get to the office in Stafford to use the equipment there.
· Be accessible by phone and use the internet.
· Experience of committee procedures would be helpful, but is not necessary.
Estimated time per week:
· Average of 2 hours.
Conditions: · Telephone, postal, stationary and copying expense will be paid (if not done in the branch office), plus travel expenses.
